Configure Export

After installing the Journal EA, tell MyTradr which MT5 accounts should send trade data to your journal.

Open Account Settings

Navigate to Account in the sidebar, then scroll to Trading Defaults.

Select Export Accounts

Under Export MT5 Accounts, you’ll see a list of MT5 accounts that have connected via the Journal EA.

  1. Check the accounts you want to auto-journal from
  2. Trades from checked accounts will appear in your journal as they close
  3. Uncheck an account to stop journaling (existing trades remain)

Select Active Journal

If you have multiple journals (Starter/PRO plans), select which journal receives the auto-journaled trades under Active Journal.

Verify Auto-Journal

Once configured:

  1. Close a trade on your MT5 terminal
  2. Wait for the EA’s next tick (typically within seconds)
  3. Check your journal — the trade should appear automatically

If trades aren’t appearing:

  1. Verify the EA is attached and running (check MT5 Experts tab)
  2. Confirm the account is checked in Trading Defaults
  3. Check that Allow WebRequests is enabled in MT5 (Tools → Options → Expert Advisors)
  4. Ensure your API key is valid in Account Settings → Security

Manual Trade Entry

You don’t need the Journal EA to use the journal. You can add trades manually via the trade entry form — useful for non-MT5 brokers or paper trading.
