Organization

Keep your notes organized with folders, pinning, search, and sync.

Folders

Organize notes into folders:

  • Create — Add new folders from the sidebar
  • Rename — Click the folder name to edit
  • Delete — Remove empty folders (notes must be moved first)
  • Move — Drag notes between folders or use the move menu
  • Unfiled — Notes without a folder appear in the default section

Pinning

Pin important notes to keep them at the top of the list:

  • Pinned notes sort above all unpinned notes
  • Within pinned/unpinned groups, notes sort by last-updated date
  • Toggle pin from the note menu or keyboard shortcut

Full-text search across all notes:

  • Search by title or content
  • Results show matching snippets with context
  • Click a result to jump to that note in the editor
  • Search updates as you type

Recently Deleted

Deleted notes don’t disappear immediately:

  • Moved to Recently Deleted folder
  • 30-day retention before automatic permanent deletion
  • Restore any note within the retention window
  • Permanently delete if you want to remove immediately

Offline Sync

Notes use an offline-first architecture:

  1. All edits are saved locally first
  2. A sync queue tracks pending changes
  3. When online, queued changes flush automatically
  4. Sync status indicator shows: Saved, Syncing, Offline, or Error

Collaborative Locking

When accessing notes from multiple devices:

  • Opening a note acquires a session lock (5-minute timeout)
  • Lock heartbeat keeps the lock alive while editing
  • If another session has the lock, you see who holds it
  • Force-acquire option available for stale locks
  • Lock takeover alerts notify you when another session takes over

This prevents conflicting edits across devices.
